JobAssay

Free job application tracker

A free job application tracker that lives in your browser

JobAssay is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox. It saves job postings in one click and tracks every application on a board — free for 25 jobs, with no account, and nothing stored on anyone’s server.

How it works

  1. 1

Save the posting where you find it

Click the JobAssay button on the job page. Title, company, location, salary and the full description are captured — so the posting is still there after the company takes it down.

  2. 2

    Move it along a board

Saved, Applied, Interviewing, Offer, Rejected. Dragging a card to Applied stamps the date for you, and a summary shows how many applications are actually in play.

  3. 3

    Follow up on time

Set a reminder on any application. Anything sitting in Applied for a week without one is flagged on the board, so nothing goes quiet by accident.

  4. 4

Check your fit before the long ones

The Fit Score compares your resume with the posting and lists the requirements you miss, quoted from the posting. Three are free.

Or just use a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet is a perfectly good tracker for ten applications. It starts to fail around thirty: postings get taken down and the description you needed for the interview is gone, dates are typed by hand or not at all, and nothing tells you which applications have gone quiet. JobAssay keeps the full posting, stamps the dates, and flags the ones that need a follow-up. If you outgrow it, export to CSV and you have your spreadsheet back.

What free does not include

Beyond 25 jobs on the board, more than 3 active reminders, or 3 Fit Scores, you need Pro — $6 a month or $39 a year. JobAssay does not autofill application forms or write resumes; if you need those, the comparisons say which tools do.

Questions

Is it actually free?

Yes. 25 jobs on the board, 3 active follow-up reminders and 3 Fit Scores, with no account and no card. Free does not expire.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Install the extension and start saving jobs. Your board is stored in your browser, not on our servers.

Which job sites does it work on?

Any page with a job posting, through the toolbar button. On LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, SmartRecruiters and Workable a Save button also appears on the page.

Can I export my applications?

Yes, to CSV, any time — on the free tier too. The export includes every job, not just the ones on screen.
