Resume match score
Check your resume against a job posting before you apply
JobAssay’s Fit Score reads a job posting and your resume side by side and tells you where you match, what you are missing, and which of the gaps are only a matter of wording. It runs from the browser extension, on the posting you are already looking at. Your first 3 are free.
What it scores
Skills
The tools, languages and techniques the posting names, against the ones your resume shows.
Experience
Seniority, scope and years — what you have owned, not only what you have touched.
Domain
The industry and problem space: payments, healthcare, infrastructure and so on.
Must-haves
Requirements the posting marks as essential. Missing one matters more than missing a nice-to-have.
Each score comes with the phrases from the posting that justify it, so you can see why rather than take a number on trust.
Wording gaps and real gaps
Every requirement you miss is quoted from the posting and marked one of two ways. A wording gapmeans your resume shows the experience but not in the posting’s language — you ran the on-call rotation, the posting asks for “on-call ownership”. Those are usually worth twenty minutes before you apply. A real gap means the experience is not there. Those are worth knowing before you spend an hour on a cover letter.
What it cannot tell you
It compares two documents. It cannot know your whole background, and it is not a prediction of whether you will get the job — treat it as one input among several. It refuses to score a posting it could not read properly rather than invent a number, and it will never tell you that you are unqualified.
Questions
Is a resume match score the same as an ATS score?
No. There is no single ATS score — each applicant tracking system, and each recruiter using one, filters differently. The Fit Score compares your resume with the posting, which is what those filters and the people behind them are also doing.
Is my resume stored?
No. It is read in your browser, sent only when you ask for a score, processed, and discarded.
Why did it refuse to score a job?
It needs at least 400 characters of job description. Below that it says so rather than inventing a number from a title and a location — paste the full posting into the card and try again.
How many can I run?
3 free, then 150 a month on Pro ($6/month or $39/year).
